The privacy of all site users is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about how you use the site.
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on this website. On some pages you can make contact or sign up to a mailing list. Within the player students are encouraged to make notes about what they have seen. This document explains how this data is used.
Our commitment to privacy
In the course of using the site students are encouraged to reflect and comment on the clips they have seen. To enable this each player has functionality that allows clip transcripts and comments to be emailed, saved or printed. In the process students are asked to put a name, real or imagined, at the top of each document they create. This has been done to help identify documents when a shared printer is being used or newly created documents emailed to teachers and guidance people. However, the Talking Jobs website and email server is not set up to retain these comments, and the data automatically cleared from the server each day. As such students must email, save or print these documents before ending a browser session. Alternatively students are also encouraged to write their thought down on paper in spaces provided on the activity documents.
We use anonymous aggregated traffic data about usage to inform website and content development. This is sometimes shared with collaboration partners when working on new learning materials and improvements to site functionality. For example, we may tell a collaboration partner that [x] number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, the duration of sessions, and information about network location. However, we don’t use or share any personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without providing site users with an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated use.
